Barcelona 2013

On Thursday, Douglas and I got back from our four day holiday in Barcelona and I wanted to share with you some extra snaps I took whilst out there, along with a video montage I whipped together for those of you not up for watching the full length vlogs over on my second YouTube channel  (RhiannonAshleeExtra). This trip was my present to Doug for his Birthday back in May and it was a first for a lot of things, including mine and Doug's first holiday (without his family), my first City holiday (AKA not just lying by the pool all day) and the first time being delayed in an airport for seventeen hours.. which was not so great!

DAY ONE: was pretty tiring as we were up at 4am after a mear few hours sleep but of course that didn't swerve our excitement. We spent the day gathering our bearings (Douglas being good with maps meant he did all the hard work and I just followed) and soaked in the atmosphere (and rain) whilst browsing through shops and markets. Also not the most traditional, but we came across a Dunkin' Donuts and may I say they were the best doughnuts I have ever tasted. The early evening was spent chilled out in our hotel room (Ayre Hotel Caspe) and we ordered room service (just because we were on holiday and we could) whilst we got ourselves ready for dinner and obviously I had to get a mojito.. yum!

We walked for a good hour trying to find a restaurant with both reasonable prices and food we liked the look of, we finally settled on an fairly priced place (I can't remember the name, sorry) and ordered a caesar salad, olives, bread and some kind of spicy meatball things between us, which were all just starters but it turned out to be our best meal of the holiday. After, we found a place I've always wanted to go to, the Hard Rock Cafe, where we had a few cocktails.. and shots.. and called it a night.

DAY TWO: are batteries were fully charged and we were ready for a busy day ahead. We travelled up  a mountain called Montserrat, where the view was absolutely amazing. We went back into Barcelona around mid-afternoon, where we wondered more around the City; bought some ice cream along the beach, enjoyed the sun (which was finally coming out after a slightly cloudy day previously) and I wish I had made note of all these places we visited but I'm so rubbish at that kind of thing - I promise I will do that on our next adventure!

DAY THREE & FOUR: in the morning, Doug popped out to buy us some croissants and orange juice  to bring back to the hotel room for breakfast which was so sweet. We then went to visit Doug's grandparents who have a holiday home in L'Escala and it was by far the warmest day we had which was an added bonus to an already lovely day spent walking along the beach and having lunch on the seafront. Our last day consisted of running around finding items such as a Barcelona Starbucks mug and getting our caricature drawn, before heading back to the hotel to grab our suitcase and get to the airport!

I could have written an essay on everything we did during our time in Barcelona and I'm sure that even all the Instagrams, videos and blog posts have missed out bits and bobs, but I hope you enjoyed a little insist into our holiday. I'm already missing Barcelona and wished we had a little longer to do everything we wanted, but I am sure we will be back another year!
