SUMMER '14 TOP PICKS • SWIMWEAR EDIT

It's summer, the suns out (well, most of the time here in England), you're about to yet off to somewhere exotic or head down to the beach with your friends but then you realise that last years swimwear doesn't quite fit you as well anymore. Story of my life. Well, I have gathered a small collection of my top swimwear picks including swimsuits, high waisted bikinis and separates, for you to shop if you find yourself in the same boat.

Topshop: Mirrored Floral, £36 (buy here) • River Island: Black and White, £30 (buy here) • Topshop: Box Pleat, £36 (buy here)

Let's be honest, swimsuits were a tad uncool for a while but nowadays they're just lovely as any other bikini. I actually bought my first all-in-one last year from Topshop but fast forward a mere ten months later and I can barely fit my butt into it. Typical. Anyway, I adore this floral swimsuit with the cut out back but if you're after something a little more subtle, then this monochrome one from River Island is probably more up your street. Plus, if you're body conscious (don't be, I say you're you can rock any swimsuit you want to) then the panelling on the sides give the illusion of a slimmer figure. Like most of us at the moment, I'm obsessed with pastel colours, so this mint green and white swimsuit with frill details is simply adorable. I really want it.
Topshop: Bright Coral, £25 (buy here River Island: Pink Floral Mesh, £28 (buy here• O'Neill: Seaside, $76 (buy here and here)

I'm yet to purchase a high waisted bikini but boy, do I want one. I love the sophisticated, retro vibe of high waisted bikinis and can imagine myself teaming one up with a headscarf and a pair of cat eye sunglasses. If you're not a fan of pattern but still want some colour, then this vibrant one from Topshop is perfect. I tend to prefer bikinis with a bandeau top as personally I think they're flattering and you don't have to worry about silly tan lines. If you want to enhance you cleavage then halter necks are the way to go.
Topshop: Stripe, £28 (buy here) • New Look: Cut Out Frill, £22.98 (buy here and here) • O'Neill: Festival, $90 (buy here and here)

I have to say, I love all of these bikinis. The blue and white striped one is classic whilst the pink one from New Look is mega girly and I'm a sucker for anything with a cut out pattern. I have seen a lot of crop top style bikini tops around lately and although they're not going to give you the best tan lines, I think they're really flattering and something a little different. Thumbs up from me.

  3. I've literally had the same two bikinis for three years (you can tell I don't go on holiday much!) because whenever I spot a bikini I like I just tell myself I don't need it! This has really made me want to treat myself to something new though. I've never really understood the bandeau hype because I've always assumed halternecks would be more flattering on me, but I've never actually tried one so who knows! Accessorize always have really pretty swimwear actually; they're fairly pricey but have gorgeous patterns and colours!

  8. I love number 3 & 4, they both look adorable and I love the colours! I especially think number 4 would be so so comfortable, unfortunately I live in Scotland so there's no real need for bikinis.. It's nice to look though! xxx
